Welcome to USW from USW Careers

Congratulations on securing your place with us. The first few weeks are an exciting time; a chance to make new friends, spark new interests and make a few unforgettable memories along the way. We, USW Careers, are here to encourage you, to guide you and to assist you throughout your time as a student at USW and after you graduate. Starting now, we have action-packed of events to help you familiarise yourself with us and our services, including a fantastic give away.

Be in with a chance of winning up to £500 for a digital kit (such as IPad, laptop or Chrome book etc) - Learning services will be running a photo caption competition throughout September 'Capture Tomorrow'.

Capture your career 

Take a photo of your chosen career path i.e. if you want to be an illustrator, a photo of your art materials or an illustrator you admire. Post the picture on either Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and include the hashtag #USWCapture2020 and tag @USWCareers. Make sure you follow us on one of our social media channels to be included in the prize draw.

Our career and skills development system. It is jam-packed with resources, tools and learning materials to help you understand yourself better and the options open to you, develop your skills, and present yourself well to employers – including great resources to help you create a fantastic LinkedIn profile.


Our jobs board and events system where you can see all of the latest opportunities posted by employers as well as events that will be running, including online events! We recommend signing up for the weekly alerts to make sure that you don’t miss out on anything (or daily if you are really keen!).


A work placement is a period of relevant, academically supervised work experience assess as part of a programme of study. In some courses, work placements are compulsory modules, in others work experience is optional but encouraged. Have a look at our advice and support.

The GO Wales: Achieve through Work Experience Programme aims to help you develop your employability skills and improve your chances of obtaining sustainable, graduate level employment when you leave university.


We can help you. We offer 1-2-1 support, mentoring throughout the year, as well as a range of interactive events & workshops, giving you the knowledge, confidence & networks.

Complete our online employability award, the GradEdge Award, which will help you to develop the skills and attributes employers are looking for.
