Creative Internships Programme 2019-20 Crafting a Cultural Workforce

Does a career in arts fundraising appeal to you?  If so, read on….

Arts & Business Cymru is searching for arts graduates to participate in an exciting internships programme. The project is focused on developing the next generation of arts fundraisers.

Wales has, for some time, suffered from a lack of skilled professionals in this crucial field.  The need to ensure a funding mix is crucial to survival and arts organisations across the country now recognise that investing resources into this area is the only way to ensure sustainability.  However, the number of professional fundraisers in Wales cannot begin to keep up with the demand for such services.

The only way to increase this vital pool of professionals is to find a way to attract new graduates into a career in fundraising.

A&B Cymru’s Creative Internships Programme will place recent graduates into Wales based arts organisations as trainee fundraisers.  Each intern will:

  • undertake a 10 month, full time, paid placement with a not for profit Wales based arts organisation on a specific, measurable project.  This will begin in October 2019.
  • receive structured support from the participating arts organisation, including mentoring from a senior fundraiser.
  • receive mentoring from a business adviser chosen to meet the intern’s professional needs.
  • have access to all A&B Cymru training courses in sponsorship / business skills, providing tangible development as well as key networking opportunities with established arts professionals.

Criteria for participation:

  • Minimum 2:2 degree;
  • Evidence of commitment to career in the arts;
  • Evidence of genuine interest in pursuing a career in fundraising;
  • Evidence of commitment to developing professional practice abilities;
  • Availability to commit to all elements of the project.
