GO Wales supports Carers Week

There are 6.5 million carers across the UK. If you are a current USW student who cares for a family member or friend, GO Wales might be able to support you.

Carers Week aims to raise awareness of those individuals who provide unpaid care and support to a family member or friend who has a disability, illness, mental health condition or who needs extra help as they grow older.

Make sure you check out the Carers Week website, which has more information about the week, along with activities you can get involved in!

Being a carer can be incredibly challenging, and the GO Wales team supports Carers Week to recognise the contribution that Carers make to families and communities across the country.

Would you like support with finding flexible, relevant work experience that can fit around your studies and caring responsibilities?

If you are a USW student who cares for someone, you may find it difficult to have the time to find work experience alongside your studies. If you have caring responsibilities, you might be eligible for our GO Wales programme, which supports students to get work experience to boost your CV.

Our friendly team of GO Wales advisers will:

  • Find relevant, flexible work experience that is tailored to your needs and fits around your commitments.
  • Meet the employer with you to discuss the work experience opportunity.
  • Support the development of a graduate level CV.
  • Advise on the recruitment process and help with applications, interviews etc.

Get in touch with the team to see how we can support you, even if you don’t think of yourself as having caring responsibilities. Book an appointment here.
