64 USW undergraduates successfully secure 10 week internships through a competitive recruitment process.

On 13th January, the Business School and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences in partnership with the Placements and Careers team, embarked on the fourth cohort of 10 week internships.  The programme works closely with leading organisations from the public, private and voluntary sector so students have the opportunity to gain invaluable experience in their chosen field while contributing to the valuable work of the host providers. The students accessed an extensive range of excellent opportunities sourced by the Placement Team.

Milly Blenkin, Talent Programme Manager at GoCompare welcomed three interns to their business.

“Our very own GoFurther Academy has partnered with the University of South Wales to give valuable work experience to some of their second-year students on a 10-week programme. Raihaan and Leah who join the Brand Preference team and Eleanor who joins the People team have got stuck straight into office life and even had the experience of joining us at our first company meeting offsite of 2020, which was held at the ICC Wales.”

Heather Myers, CEO at the South Wales Chamber of Commerce said their two interns have been brilliant.

“Harris and Megan have been undertaking research and supporting us on marketing and international trade. This programme offers an opportunity for any business to gain valuable insight from the interns, whilst in return giving them experience of the workplace. It’s a total Win Win. I’d honestly recommend this to any business and our experience this year, and over a number of years, is that the interns are exceptional.”

The 2nd year module aims to develop and promote student employability at managerial level in the relevant business industry related to their degree in:

Students undertake Work Based Learning under the direction of an employer and academic supervisor, enabling them to apply a range of knowledge and skills from their course, while they learn and develop their technical and managerial skills in a working environment.
