At ESP we are aware that there are number of reasons why a candidate decides to join an agency; if you are at the start of your career and looking to establish your name in local schools, have other interests and using supply work to supplement your income or coming to the end of your career but not ready to give up educational work, we are here to help.

In comparison to educational workers in permanent positions, we realise that supply workers do not always get the same level of support and training.

At ESP we aim to close this gap by offering continued professional development (CPD) no matter what stage of your career you are at. Reports issued by Wales Audit Office and Estyn highlight increasing reliance on support and cover staff in the classroom. Recent reports have found that arrangements for covering teacher's absence in Welsh schools do not support learner's progress sufficiently nor provide the best use of resources.

What can we offer you?

We will offer you regular constructive feedback and appraisal. This is a supportive process which will be used to inform continuing professional development.

We at ESP wish to encourage a culture in which all teachers take responsibility for improving their teaching through appropriate professional development. Professional development will be linked to the on-going professional development needs and priorities of you the individual teacher.

We will offer a range of activities that can contribute to your development including:

  • In house training
  • Mentoring service from a current head of department and NQT mentor
  • Interview and Letter of application advice
  • Constructive feedback
  • Regular talking workshops enabling candidates to share best practise
