Arobase Creative are a multi-disclipinary design studio based in North Bristol, set up by Andrew Cadywould and Tom Garland in 2016 to make high quality, ‘big agency’ design more accessible to small businessess.
In December 2020 they launched their paid internship programme to students and graduates of local Universities. The internships allow students to gain experience working on live agency projects across brand identity creation, website design, edtorial desiging and packaging concepts. Arobase are committed to pay living wage for the hours worked during the placement, whether that’s internally or remotely.
They hosted the first University of South Wales Graphic Communications student, Oscar Lane over Easter 2021, after he was selected following an application process.
“Oscar was absolutely fantastic, offering industry standard work right off the bat - and super open to critique and feedback where required. Really impressed.
This placement allowed us to reduce our personal workloads without concern of output quality. They delivered outstanding concepts that, with minor tweaks, able to be presented to clients.”
Oscar thoroughly enjoyed the experience, with very positive feedback:“The experience I have received from Arobase was incredible. I had the opportunity to take part in the creation of live work for multiple clients across a range of projects. While completing these projects I felt I was an important member of the team and was able to give and receive feedback on ideas and artwork. Tom and Andrew have been fantastic mentors for this time and the skills and working practices that I have gotten from these two weeks are sure to affect and help me as I finish university and go on into industry. As well as being welcoming, kind and a good laugh they offered meaningful advice and feedback to allow me to gain industry insights and gain confidence in how I work and in my future. In conclusion, my experience has been phenomenal and I hope to remain in contact with Arobase in future endeavours.”
