We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic, empathetic people to help support our Standing Together Cymru (STC) project. This is a great opportunity if you are studying towards a qualification in mental health or health and social care to gain experience in a third sector setting.
STC aims to improve the emotional health and community connections of older people. It is for people that are 55+ living in housing association accommodation, some of whom may be experiencing social isolation, mental health issues or have had significant change and loss in their lives.
STC gives older people an opportunity to come together and explore subjects that they may not have discussed for a long time. We find that through these guided conversations people can form deeper bonds and new friendships.
This is a fantastic opportunity to listen to some fascinating stories and to make a real difference in the lives of older people. Volunteers will support the groups to run, this will include: leading on topics for discussion, making resources for session and helping people to feel included, listened to and encouraged. Volunteers will be supported by MHF staff and will receive full training and induction to be able to fulfill the role.
