One to one career appointments – safety guidance for students

One to one career appointments are now available on campus.  These are in addition to career appointments accessible via Teams and telephone.

Please read the guidelines below to help us to continue to offer appointments on campus.

Quick checklist

  • If you are experiencing COVID symptoms, please do not attend and cancel your appointment.
  • Please wear a mask/face covering, USW Careers staff will also wear one.
  • Screen sharing will be avoided, so please send any documents for checking such as your CV beforehand – you will have the option of sending attachments when you book your careers appointment
  • Appointments will be conducted with 2 metre social distancing and with additional ventilation in place.
  • If you do not feel comfortable with these guidelines, contact [email protected] and consider booking an online Teams appointment or telephone appointment.

Safety guidance for students

If you are experiencing any symptoms of Covid, such as a high temperature, new persistent cough, please do not attend and follow Welsh Government advice https://gov.wales/coronavirus. We are following the Alert Level 0 guidelines, and there is currently no requirement for a Covid Pass to attend appointments.

You are required to wear a mask/face covering while moving around University buildings and you are required/strongly advised to wear a mask/face covering throughout the appointment (unless you are exempt).  We have increased fresh air circulation within the rooms; enhanced cleaning is taking place between appointments and hand sanitisers are available for your use. We would remind you to be respectful of people around you and always leave the required 2 metre space between you and others.

Career Advisers/USW Careers staff will be wearing a mask or face screen and will avoid sharing a laptop or computer screen, sitting close, or transferring documents/papers/pens, etc with you.

Where possible, arrive in plenty of time so you can be seen promptly and greeted at your designated room (room details/location will be available when you book your appointment).  The Career Adviser/USW Careers staff will allow you access to the room when it has been cleaned down from previous occupancy.

On arrival, you will be expected to maintain a 2 metre distance throughout the appointment whenever possible.  At the end of the session, you can let yourself out of the room, to allow the Careers Adviser/USW Careers staff to prepare for the next appointment.

To keep you and the USW Careers staff as safe as possible, please respect these guidelines when booking the appointment.   Career appointments will continue to be offered on Teams and via telephone as an alternative to on-campus appointments.  For further information please view   https://careers.southwales.ac.uk/ask-question-book-appointment/
