Many graduates both start and forge careers within the charity sector, often known as the third sector or voluntary sector. It can be overlooked as a source of paid, local and fulfilling career opportunities.
There’s more to the charity sector than raising money, but one thing is for certain – you’ll need a genuine passion to improve and enrich society to succeed.
If you’d like to make the world a better place the charity and voluntary sector gives you plenty of opportunity to do so.
The charity sector employs over 46,000 people in Wales and offers competitive salaries, flexible hours and the chance to make a real difference to people’s lives.
Prior to the Experience Works Fair on Thursday 18 October we are hosting a panel of experts from the Charity Sector. The panel will run from 11am till 12pm in Room B007 Brecon Building (B Block), Treforest.
The panel will give an insight into the wide range of career opportunities within the charity sector. Successful professionals will talk about their own career development and share tips for breaking into this very popular and diverse sector.
The industry needs a range of skillsets and you could find work in:
• accountancy and finance
• advice and counselling
• business development and project management
• campaigning, lobbying and fundraising
• corporate social responsibility (CSR)
• human resources (HR)
• information technology (IT)
• marketing and public relations (PR)
• research and policy
• social care
• support services
• teaching, education and training
• volunteer management and co-ordination.
Experience Works Fair
The Experience Works Fair starts after the panel session (12-2pm in B Block Foyer), where you will be able to network with a range of Voluntary organisations with work experience and voluntary opportunities – check out the full list of employers
