USW Freelancers Academy 4-8 June 2018
Got a business idea? The USW Freelancers Academy takes students through the steps needed to get their business idea off the ground. The USW Freelancers Academy is an annual event that takes place over 1 week. This year it has been scheduled to run between the 4-8 June. There are a maximum of 30 spaces available.
Students need to complete a short application in English or Welsh stating why they want to attend. The week will cover all the basics of business plans, marketing, networking and getting yourself out there, the week is designed to help entrepreneurial students and graduates move into the world of self-employment.
Mentoring will be available to all participants and the week will culminate in the a chance to pitch for up to £1000 of funding!.
The Academy is delivered by university staff, business mentors and experienced external entrepreneurs and is funded by the Welsh Government.
*The competition is open to ALL University of South Wales students and Alumni of up to three years after graduation.

Monday – Thursday: Key topics covered
- Business basics
- Perfecting your business idea
- Focusing on the skills you need to be a successful Entrepreneur
Attendees will be given the option to pitch. The pitches will be judged by an independent panel of judges who will consider the application in terms of both the idea and the ambition and drive of the person making the pitch.
