Preparing for a career in Software Development and IT - NHS Wales Informatics Service (Presentation & Drop-In)

Geoff Norton and Jan Sparks (NHS Wales Informatics Service) are visiting USW to talk to graduates interested in preparing for a career in IT. They will be giving a short talk and be on hand afterwards to discuss some of the opportunities the NHS Wales informatics Service has to offer. This is intended to be of interest to all graduates, regardless of their degree course.

Geoff is Software Development Manager for NHS Wales Informatics Service, the national organisation responsible for delivering technology and digital services across NSH Wales.

Geoff will be running through some of the specific skills employers are looking for and what practical steps graduates can take to help land their first job.

Geoff’s talk will include:

  • Practical hints and tips on how to prepare for interviews and assessments.
  • What to look for in a good employer.
  • For those interested in software development, Geoff will be giving his thoughts on what concepts, ideas and technologies can help candidates stand out from the crowd.
  • Afterwards Jan Sparks (Software Support Co-Ordinator) will be available to talk to students about what specific opportunities the NHS Wales Informatics Service has to offer and provide practical advice on how to apply for our 2018 graduate vacancies.
